Our Commitment To Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, the Republican Assembly of Illinois (“RAI”) provides this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used on illinoisgop.org (the “Web Site”). To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested. This statement and the policies outlined herein are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party. Notice: What Information Do We Collect? When you visit our Web Site you may provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis and Web Site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our Web Site. Personal Information You Choose to Provide: You can access our Web Site’s home page and browse our site without disclosing personal data. We collect your personal data only with your knowledge or your consent. a. Newsletter: If you so choose, you may sign up for our newsletter with just your email address. b. RAI “Join Form:” Visitors may also choose to join RAI online. Our online “Join Form” pops up with the home page. This form asks for your first name, last name, email address and the county of Illinois in which you reside, no other personally identifiable information is gathered. b. Suggest A Candidate Form: If you visitor the candidate's polling page you may choose to suggest a candidate that we have overlooked. This Form asks for your name, email address, the candidate's name and the candidate's homepage, no other personally identifiable information is gathered and your name and email address are not required to submit the form. c. Public Forums: This site makes chat rooms and message boards available to visitors. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information. Disclosure: We will not share your personally identifiable information with any private third party, ever. In addition, illinoisgop.org ensures that your personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to State institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation. 2. Web site use information: What are Cookies: Cookies are a feature of Web browser software that allows Web servers to recognize the computer used to access a Web site. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s Web browser on the user’s hard drive. Cookies can remember what information a user accesses on one Web page to simplify subsequent interactions with that Web site by the same user or to use the information to streamline the user’s transactions on related Web pages. How illinoisgop.org uses Cookies: Illinoisgop.org uses cookies in order to limit voting on our Candidate’s page to once per 24 hours. (We do not use cookies on the home page poll visitors can vote as often as they want). If there are multiple races, each poll places a unique cookie on the visitor's Web browser. The cookie stores the visitor’s Internet protocol (IP) address and the time the visitor voted in that poll. We do not associate the information stored in a visitor's cookie with any other personal data about that visitor and do not use cookies for any other purpose than that stated here. Log Files: Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. Other Tracking: Illinoisgop.org does not use any other tracking device (e.g. Clear Gifs, Web Beacons & Web Bugs). Disclosure: We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. Choice: How Can You Opt-Out? Our visitors are given the opportunity to opt out of having future newsletters, or other communications, sent to them by sending an email to remove@illinoisgop.org with “remove” in the subject line and providing us their registered email address. Alternatively, to opt-out a visitor may contact us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. Illinoisgop.org will work promptly to remove the address from our list. Once removed, no further communications will be sent, unless the visitor registers again. Access: How Can You Correct Your Information? You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by using the contact information listed below. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. Security: Our Commitment To Data Security To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Links: This website contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. Read the privacy statements of each website that collects identifiable information. Notification of Changes: If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected. If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Web site notifying users of the change.
