Phyllis Schlafly Endorses Oberweis for GovernorPhyllis Schlafly |
| March 13, 2006
On March 21st, Illinois Republicans will make a critical decision for the future of Illinois families and taxpayers. Republican primary voters will determine who will be our Party’s nominee for Governor. I strongly encourage you to cast your vote for Jim Oberweis in the Republican Primary for Governor. At a time when public corruption in both parties is being vigorously prosecuted, Jim Oberweis presents himself as a real reformer who has no ties to Springfield or to previous administrations. Jim Oberweis is a successful businessman, a family man, and a former educator. He is an advocate for school choice by vouchers, the sanctity of innocent human life, the preservation of our Second Amendment rights, and the enforcement of our laws against illegal immigration. Jim is a driving force behind the Protect Marriage Illinois initiative, personally gathering petition signatures and providing financial assistance. A special word to my pro-life friends: Political pundits are predicting that a pro-abortion, pro-gay-rights feminist will win this important election because pro-lifers are divided between two candidates. I plead with pro-lifers not to let that happen in this crucial race for Illinois Governor. I believe it is vitally important to the pro-life cause that we all get behind one candidate so that the pro-abortion candidate doesn’t win. The best chance we have to prevent this disaster is to support Jim Oberweis. Please contact one of the following Oberweis coordinators closest to you, as soon as possible. Let’s get Jim Oberweis elected Governor of Illinois. www.oberweisforillinois.com Jim Patrick, Southern IL (618) 985-353 Beverly McDowell, Olney (618) 392-2607 Phyllis Schlafly |

The tragedy is that O’Malley, who refused to endorse Jim Ryan, is now a man of the past as Bill Brady may well become because of his intransigence. If the cause of conservatism loses on March 21, make no mistake: Brady will wear the collar for it if it can be perceived that his votes could have saved the day.

Oberweis is Only candidate who can win in NovemberJim Leahy |
| Jim Oberweis is the only Republican who can build the coalition to win in November
Here are a few facts that Judy and her supporters forget to tell us. Yes the last election for the United States Senate in 2004 was a disaster, no thanks to Judy Barr Topinka. However we learned one thing The conservative base vote for the Republican Party in the General election is 1,390,690 that was the vote total for Alan Keyes in the 2004 election. Where will these voters go? I can say with certainty a majority will sit out the General Election if Judy Barr Topinka wins the primary. The Governor has already given universal healthcare, and signed the gay rights legislation. He has raised the minimum wage in the state and has started fetal stem cell research; he has also pandered to Hispanics by signing the matricula consular card and in state tuition (Matricula consular was sponsored by Senator Brady, and in state tuition was also supported by the Senator). Where will Judy’s crossover votes come from? Yes we will need 1.5 million more votes than the 1.3 million the Keyes campaign received; but it’s easier to build from a strong base of 1.3 million then having to worry about reaching out to democrats who do not agree with the Republican platform. A recent zogby poll noted a huge majority—81 percent—believes local and state police should help federal authorities enforce laws against illegal immigration. Only 14 percent disagreed. According to the report, the greatest opponents of illegal immigration are Democrats, African-Americans, women and people with household income below $75,000, those with the most to lose in the job market. Jim Oberweis is the only candidate to address these issues and not back down in the face of withering criticism. Poll after poll shows the same results. Jim Oberweis’s opponents would have you believe that this issue makes Jim unelectable as you can see it is the opposite In closing, Jim Oberweis is the only candidate who can build the coalition needed to win the General election in November. Jim has the experience in the financial and business sectors to be able to take over the reigns of government on the first day. Jim Oberweis has no ties to any former administration making him the perfect person to rid Illinois of the culture of corruption that includes both parties. The entrenched powers cannot use campaign funds or contributions to keep Jim Oberweis from making the changes necessary to turn Illinois around. Like Patrick Fitzgerald has shown sometimes it takes an outsider to be able to clean up corruption. Jim Oberweis can and will bring faith and trust back to the Illinois Republican party. |
