Jim Oberweis Announces Campaign for GovernorPress office |
| On Thursday, April 14, Jim Oberweis will begin a three-day tour through Illinois to announce his candidacy for the Governorship of Illinois. [An itinerary follows.] “The people of Illinois demand leadership that respects their common sense values,” says Oberweis, a 58 year-old entrepreneur from Aurora. “We offer the people of Illinois long overdue change. Out with the politics of privilege and corruption. In with a new era of honest and ethical reform. Out with the job killing policies of increased taxes and fees. In with a return to a job growing economy and a state government that lives within its means. The people of Illinois deserve honest, capable leadership and that’s why I’m running for Governor.” During his business career, Jim Oberweis founded three mutual funds, two stock brokerage firms and one money management firm that currently manages over $1 billion. In 1986, when Jim’s older brother suffered a stroke and was unable to continue in business, Jim Oberweis bought Oberweis Dairy to preserve his grandfather’s legacy. Oberweis Dairy processes the world’s finest milk and ice cream products. In the last twelve years, the management team has grown Oberweis Dairy from 50 employees to over 1000, from $5 million in annual sales to $55 million, and from one ice cream store to 35 and growing.
