ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES

JIM LEAHY
I wrote this the day after. I feel no different today! There is an election coming! Get involved.
It is time for the people who's policies caused this, to be held accountable. We were attacked in 1993 by the same people in the same place and we did nothing! They attacked us again at Kobar towers, then at the embassies in Africa, then the U.S.S Cole, and still we did nothing!
By being silent we told them it is OK to kill our citizens. It was wrong !
We will not rest until the people who did this are brought to justice, why would we allow the people who allowed this to happen to escape retribution? It is the policies they follow that show our resolve. We were left wanting a year ago it will never happen again. VOTE! HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE! If you don't who will? GOD BLESS AMERICA

It is the morning after. The dust is still rising up into the air, the emergency workers are performing their heroic jobs, trying to find the survivors. The empty look on everyone's face shows the sense of security that was lost. Now is the time to come together as Americans and complete the task of collecting our dead, caring for the wounded, cry for the families who have lost loved ones and pray.
But soon, very soon it will be time to act, it is time to change the way we do things in this country. Our country will call upon our men and women in the military to find who did this and bring them to justice. For the last 8 years we have shorted the military to give the money to social programs, it was the easiest place to take money from. Who would notice? The men and women of the military are not allowed to complain to the papers or media; Even if what's happening causes our country to be vulnerable. The only part of our budget that really was cut in the 90's was the military budget. President Clinton used to brag that the Federal government was smaller and had less people working for it then at any time since the 1960's. What he never said was that all the cuts in the federal workforce came from the Department of Defense.

Most conservatives have been trying to point out for the last 20 years, that the main job of the Federal Government is national defense. The Democratic party has tried to change the focus of the Federal Government to be a nanny, taking the money from defense and buying votes. It is time to go back to basics, our country was lulled into a sense of security that has never really been there. I am not saying that we should live in a military state, far from it, but we should fully fund the main job of our government and let the American people take care of their fellow citizens who are in need. Look at the goodness of the American people when people need help, they will not allow our country to become a third world nation with the poor living in the streets.

We can keep the basic security net that has been set up, but things like midnight basketball and funding of mushroom research and other nonsense have to be rethought. Look at the potential of the market downturn, the loss of life, the loss of freedom. Without these things what good are government programs? If the military had been fully funded for the last 8 years would this still have happened? We have put restrictions on our intelligence services that have tied their hands, we have made it impossible for them to recruit informants, we make it so that they can not pay anyone who has a criminal record for information. We have made the military a social experiment. That must end!

When military officials say that open homosexuals would cause division and would hurt morale believe them it is their job. When they say the restrictions we place on them will hurt the performance of their duties believe them. When they try to explain that by mixing the sexes in basic training it makes them lower standards for all, believe them don't force them into retirement. The time has come to hold the political element responsible and point out that it was they who asked the military to do the impossible.

After the cold war we never once held the Democrats responsible for there coddling of communism. Some of the current chairmen of Senate committees stood side by side with our enemies, the communists in Nicaragua. We have had Democrats and some Republicans, going to Cuba standing next to a terrorist as if all was forgiven, they should be held responsible for their actions. What message were they sending? Is that the way to show that there is a price to pay for attacking Americans?

We can not afford to look the other way anymore, they were wrong and put our country and people at risk. There are consequences for actions, some times it is easier to just pretend that something didn't happen and move on, but that always comes back to haunt you. Thousands are dead , billions of dollars in damage and the people who invited this upon us will not be taken to task? Not if we can help it! There is an election coming, the tsunami of 1994 is nothing compared to what will happen next year when we put people who think of America first in charge of the Senate. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

SPIRIT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

Bill Christensen

The true meaning of the Spirit of the American people was brightly shown, one year ago today on Tuesday Morning, September 11, 2001, when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D. C., and a plane that was headed for an unknown Washington target, but crashed into a cornfield in Pennsylvania.

Terrorists associated with Ossam bin Laden of Saudi Arabia hijacked the planes that took off from American Cities to use Kamikaze style attacks on the symbols of the Heart of our Democracy and our government. The terrorists flew the planes into both towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D. C., with the intent of destroying the symbols and killing thousands of Americans, The Great Satan.

During and after the attack, the true courage of the men and women of America came out, when the Police officers, Firefighters, Port of New York Authority Employees and the EMS crews responded to the scene and started to rescue the victims from the burning buildings. These were the true hero’s of the tragedy because they offered their lives up in return for the lives of hundreds of people that were saved. They knew of the danger that they faced and were willing to enter the burning building to save these survivors and did it without giving it a second thought. They are our true Patriotic heroes of this tragedy.

The fourth plane, also, had true heroes on it. These Americans attempted to retake the aircraft from the terrorists before it was used as a bomb in Washington, D. C.. These men and women, with utter disregard to their own safety fought with the terrorists and the plane crashed killing all on board, but, falling well short of any targets in Washington.

All of these Men and Women should be given the praise that they deserve for the heroic acts that they performed on September 11, 2001.

We should also praise the heroic men and women of our armed services for their undaunted courage in the face of these terrorists that they are fighting in the far off War on Terrorism being fought in the Mid East. These are our sons and daughters that are fighting for freedom against these terrorists and the countries that support them. Now is the time to put all of our backing behind our elected President George W. Bush in his effort as Commander in Chief to defeat these enemies of Democracy and bring them to justice.

Now is, NOT, the time to be undermining the government for the political gain that some people want. Now is the time for all of “WE THE PEOPLE” to stand up and be counted in this War on Terrorism and put an end to the bloodshed that these extremists are wreaking on our Great Country in an attempt to destroy Democracy.

On this day of Remembrance, we need to honor all of the brave men and women that gave their lives to save others in this attack on our country and the brave men and women that have and will give their lives in the War on Terrorism. I say Thank You and God Speed!

Remarks by President George W. Bush

George W. Bush
One year ago, men and women and children were killed here because they were Americans. And because this place is a symbol to the world of our country's might and resolve. Today, we remember each life. We rededicate this proud symbol and we renew our commitment to win the war that began here.

"The terrorists chose this target hoping to demoralize our country. They failed. Within minutes, brave men and women were rescuing their comrades. Within hours in this building, the planning began for a military response. Within weeks, commands went forth from this place that would clear terrorist camps and caves and liberate a nation. And within one year, this great building has been made whole once again.

"Many civilian and military personnel have now returned to offices they occupied before the attack. The Pentagon is a working building, not a memorial. Yet, the memories of a great tragedy linger here. And for all who knew loss here, life is not the same.

"The 184 whose lives were taken in this place -- veterans and recruits, soldiers and civilians, husbands and wives, parents and children -- left behind family and friends whose loss cannot be weighed. The murder of innocence cannot be explained, only endured. And though they died in tragedy, they did not die vain.

"Their loss has moved a nation to action, in a cause to defend other innocent lives across the world. This war is waged on many fronts. We've captured more than 2,000 terrorists; a larger number of killers have met their end in combat. We've seized millions in terrorist assets. We're reorganizing the federal government to protect the homeland. Yet, there's a great deal left to do. And the greatest tasks and the greatest dangers will fall to the armed forces of the United States.

"I came to the Presidency with respect for all who wear America's uniform. Every day as your Commander in Chief, my respect and that of our nation has deepened. I have great confidence in every man and women who wears the uniform of the United States of America. I am proud of all who have fought on my orders, and this nation honors all who died in our cause.

"Wherever our military is sent in the world, you bring hope and justice and promise of a better day. You are worthy of the traditions you represent, the uniform you wear, the ideals you serve. America is counting on you. And our confidence is well placed.

"What happened to our nation on a September day set in motion the first great struggle of a new century. The enemies who struck us are determined and they are resourceful. They will not be stopped by a sense of decency or a hint of conscience -- but they will be stopped.

"A greater force is amassed against them. They are opposed by freedom loving people in many lands. They are opposed by our allies who have fought bravely by our side. And as long as terrorists and dictators plot against our lives and our liberty, they will be opposed by the United States Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Marines.

"We fight as Americans have always fought, not just for ourselves, but for the security of our friends, and for peace in the world. We fight for the dignity of life against fanatics who feel no shame in murder. We fight to protect the innocent, so that the lawless and the merciless will not inherit the earth.

"In every turn of this war, we will always remember how it began, and who fell first -- the thousands who went to work, boarded a plane, or reported to their posts.

"Today, the nation pays our respects to them. Here, and in Pennsylvania, and in New York, we honor each name, and each life. We ask God to bring comfort to every home where they are loved and missed. And on this day, and on every day, may He watch over the United States of America.

"God bless."

Conservative Quote of the Day

"The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them."
